In Memorium, Andy Rapattoni, Class of 1957, 2010 Tiger of the Year

Andy Rapattoni, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Rapattoni Corporation and 2010 CHSAA Tiger of the Year, died April 8, 2015 at age 75. Andy’s wife and high school sweetheart and partner in business is Niki Brown Rapattoni ’58.

Andy earned national recognition for developing software for the real estate industry. Rapattoni MLS software is used by more than 200,000 real estate professionals and its association management software is used by more than 80% of the nation’s realtors. In 2009, Andy was named one of the 100 most influential real estate leaders by Inman News; in 2013 and 2014 he was named to the Swanepoel Power 200, a list of the 200 most powerful people in residential real estate.

After graduation from CHS in 1958, Andy continued his education at Chaffey College, Los Angeles City College, California State University at Los Angeles, and UCLA where he majored in engineering and minored in business. He began working in the real estate industry in 1965 as a commercial real estate broker and in 1968 joined Realtron Corporation, the first computerized real estate multiple listing service vendor. He and Niki founded Rapattoni Corporation in 1970.

Andy had a passion for driving and restoring cars. He rebuilt a 1934 Ford, restored two Ferraris, and raced Formula Fords and Karts. During the 1980s, Andy served as a judge at the Newport Concours d’Elegance. He and Niki shared an interest in theater (going back to their days at CHS) and provided financial and other support for several small theater groups. They established two scholarships: one for a theater arts student at CHS and one at Cabrillo College in Santa Cruz in honor of Andy’s brother, a watercolor artist.

Andy is survived by his wife, Niki, of nearly 55 years; his sister, Gloria Rapattoni ’61 and her children; and his son and daughter-in-law, Nicholas and JoAnn Rapattoni and their four children.
